The Cotswolds:

May is an especially beautiful month to be in England. In the heart of the peaceful, rolling Cotswold Hills rise gently above the Evesham Vale in unhurried tradition. Footpaths cross scenic fields and valleys leading to rivers, canals, woods and villages. The area has been known as The Cotswolds since Shakespeare’s time. It is designated, by the government, Official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historic, ancient, enchanting, quintessential villages, hamlets, and market towns feature local honey coloured limestone and thatch roofed cottages. Each has it’s own character. Dry stone walls, streams, gardens and footpaths are everywhere. The landscape has been traditionally know for sheep grazing. In former years the wool merchants built many of the villages each with a beautiful church.

STRATFORD UPON AVON
One night is spent at Maidenhead near Heathrow airport upon arrival into London to rest after an overnight flight. We then enjoy a picturesque drive to Stratford upon Avon where we spend all 7 nights. This charming market town dates back to medieval times. It is most famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Shops, restaurants, theatre, sightseeing, beautiful parks are all within easy walking distance. Our hotel, The Swan’s Nest, dates back to late 17th century and is one of the earliest brick houses in the Stratford area. It has it’s own river frontage. Recently refurbished all the rooms are named after birds.
